This Cookie Policy is applicable to all Stellar owned or operated brands and websites, including but not limited to, the websites located at www.herdofstupidity.com, its operational host Stellar Wave LLC, www.herdofstupidity.com, and each of their respective affiliates, parents, subsidiaries, licensees, websites, and assigns (collectively hereinafter referred to, alternatively, as “Stellar”, Stellar Wave” the “Websites,” “we,” “us,” “our” or similar identifying pronouns), and explains how and why Stellar uses cookies, web beacons, pixels, clear gifs, and other similar technologies (collectively “Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies”) to recognize you when you visit our Websites.  It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them. This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Cookies are small data files containing small amounts of information that can be stored on and accessed from your computer or mobile device when you visit a website, to the extent you agree. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information. Cookies help us to remember things about your visit to our Websites, such as your preferred language and other choices/settings and generally make the site easier for you to use.  They may also be used to deliver advertisements that are relevant to you.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Stellar Wave) are called “first party cookies”.  Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called “third party cookies”. Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g. like advertising, interactive content and analytics).  The parties that set these third party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.

We use first party and third party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our Websites to operate, and we refer to these as “essential” or “strictly necessary” cookies. We use these essential Cookies to:

  • log you into our Websites
  • to protect your security
  • to help us detect and fight spam, abuse and other activities that violate Stellar Media’s user agreements and term; and
  • to authenticate your access to the Websites.

Other cookies remember information about your browser and your preferences.  For example, cookies help us remember your preferred language or the country that you are in. We can then provide you with content in your preferred language without having to ask you each time you visit our Websites.

Cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our Websites.   For example, these types of cookies help us test different versions of our Websites to see which particular features or content users prefer.

To help us better understand how people use our Websites, certain third parties serve cookies through our Websites for analytics and other purposes.  This is described in more detail below. We don’t release the information collected from our own cookies to any third parties, other than to our service providers who assist us in these cookie activities.

The specific types of first and third party cookies served through our Websites and the purposes they perform are described in the table below:

The content of this Cookie Policy is for your general information and use only. These cookies are subject to change without notice. You acknowledge that this information may contain inaccuracies or errors and is subject to change and Stellar Wave expressly excludes liability for any such inaccuracies or errors to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website.  We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called “tracking pixels” or “clear gifs”).  These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has visited our Websites or opened an e-mail that we have sent them.  This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within our Websites to another, to deliver or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to our Websites from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve site performance, and to measure the success of e-mail marketing campaigns.  In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning.

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies.  You can exercise your cookie preferences specific to Stellar Wave Websites by clicking the “Cookie Settings” link in the cookie banner of any Stellar websites page. Your personal cookie preferences set in the Stellar Media cookie banner will be limited to first and third party cookies on Stellar Wave websites only, and must be set for each device or browser used to access Stellar Wave Websites.

You can exercise your preferences with some third party cookies by clicking on the appropriate opt-out links provided in the cookie table above.

You can set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies. If you choose to reject cookies, you may still use our Websites though your access to some functionality and areas of our Websites may be restricted.   As the means by which you can refuse cookies through your web browser controls vary from browser-to-browser, you should visit your browser’s help menu for more information.

In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising.  If you would like to find out more information, please visit www.networkadvertising.org/choiceswww.aboutads.info/choices or www.youronlinechoices.com. For further information on cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set on your device and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

We do not control any of the above opt-out links and are not responsible for any choices you make using these mechanisms or the continued availability or accuracy of these mechanisms.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Policy on our Websites with a new effective date. If we make a material change to this Policy, we will take reasonable steps to notify you in advance of the planned change. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on the Cookie Policy. Your continued use of the Websites constitutes your agreement to be bound by such changes to this Cookie Policy. Your only remedy, if you do not accept the terms of this Cookie Policy, is to discontinue use of and access to the Websites.

The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
